----------------------Andy Warhol ----------------------
"Pop art is about liking things."
"Как только вы погрузитесь в "Поп-Арт", вы уже не будете видеть простую вывеску одними и теми же глазами. А когда вы однажды начнете мыслить о системе "Поп", вы уже никогда не будете видеть Америку так, как вы видели ее раньше..."
"Art is what you can get away with."
"Business art is the step that comes after Art. I started as a commercial artist, and I want to finish as a business artist."
"I loved working when I worked at commercial art and they told you what to do and how to do it and all you had to do was correct it and they'd say yes or no. The hard thing is when you have to dream up the tasteless things to do on your own."
"I do the same thing everyday. I go to work and paint. I try to turn out as many pictures as I can."
"I always think I don't do the first one good, so I try to do it more."
"I wanted to paint nothing."
"Why do people think artists are special? It's just another job."
-------------------Roy Lichtenstein---------------------
"Pop Art is industrial painting. I think the meaning of my work is that it is industrial, it's what all the world will soon become. Europe will be the same way, soon, it won't be American; it will be universal."
"I think we're much smarter than we were. Everybody knows that abstract art can be art, and most people know that they may not like it, even if they understand there's another purpose to it."
"Color is crucial in painting, but it is very hard to talk about. There is almost nothing you can say that holds up as a generalization, because it depends on too many factors: size, modulation, the rest of the field, a certain consistency that color has with forms, and the statement you're trying to make."
"Personally, I feel that in my own work I wanted to look programmed or impersonal but I don't really believe I am being impersonal when I do it. And I don't think you could do this."
"I'm not really sure what social message my art carries, if any. And I don't really want it to carry one. I'm not interested in the subject matter to try to teach society anything, or to try to better our world in any way."
--------------------Robert Indiana----------------------
"Pop art is the American Dream, optimistic, generous, and naive!"
--------------------Robert Rauschenberg--------------
"I think a painting is more like the real world if it's made out the real world."
--------------------Claes Oldenburg--------------------
"I am for the art of underwear and the art of taxicabs. I am for the art of ice cream cones dropped on concrete."
--------------------James Rosenquist------------------
"People say I use my billboard technique to make art.Baloney! I used my art technique to paint billboards."
